ABOUT
ICONS Dance Festival is an annual event hosted by the Joffrey Concert Group that celebrates the rich tapestry of New York’s heritage dance companies, creates educational opportunities, and fosters a sense of community among young pre-professional dancers.

On April 04-05, 2025 at Mark Morris Dance Group, Limón 2, BHdos, and the Joffrey Concert Group will join together for performances and in a series of masterclasses hosted by the Artistic Directors of each company.

Connection
Creating a connection among not-for-profit cance Institutions
The Icons Dance Festival is designed to facilitate a stronger bond between not-for-profit dance institutions in New York City. By sharing audiences, pooling resources, and collaborating on this festival, we aim to strengthen the dance community and enhance its visibility in the metropolitan area.
PERFORMance
Providing professional performing experience
The Icons Dance Festival provides pre-professional dancers in NYC Dance Companies with professional performance experience that is vital to their careers as dance performers. They will rely on performance experiences, such as this one to push them forward in their professional careers.
EDUCATION
Providing educational opportunities
Education is at the core of our mission. To provide valuable learning experiences for young, aspiring dancers, Artistic Directors of leading dance companies host masterclasses for pre-professional dancers. Masterclasses allow students to learn from influential dance companies and for the dancers in each company to learn from each other, offering everyone a unique opportunity to engage with different dance techniques and styles
EXPOSURE
Exposing dancers to New York’s heritage dance companies
Participants of the Icons Dance Festival have the opportunity to learn more about New York’s influential dance companies, each company’s different approach to technique and artistry, and the influence and impact that each has had on the broader dance landscape.

MASTERCLASSES
Artistic Directors of Joffrey Concert Group Bradley Shelver and Dante Puleio of Limón taught masterclasses to dancers ages 14-25. Providing dancers with the opportunity to experience unique dance approaches and styles, Shelver and Puleio immersed dancers into the unique techniques and artistry that have long defined Joffrey and Limón.
PERFORMANCES
The Joffrey Concert Group and Limón2 shared the stage on April 13, 2024, presenting works by Jose Limòn, William Carlos Angulo, Eryn Renee Young, and Bradley Shelver. Audiences and masterclass students experienced the legacy of each company’s founding directors, the propitiousity of emerging choreographers, and the talent of the dancers of the next generation.
